YouTube is a popular video platform. Many YouTube content creators make money from the YouTube partner program. The platform pays a share of their revenue earned on advertisements that run on the videos to the content creators. YouTube has announced a new monetization policy. The new policy does have a few changes. If you are making a new channel on this platform, these are a few pointers you need to keep in mind:

    • Subscribers: As per the new terms, you need to have a minimum of 1000 subscribers on your channel.
    • Watch Hours: Your channel needs to have a minimum of 4000 watch hours in a span of 12 months. This will help you to qualify for the YouTube Partner Programe (YPP).
    • Verification: Account safety is one of the major concerns for them. Hence, they have introduced a 2 step verification programe that one has to perform.
    • Strikes: One condition that YouTube has always been very keen on maintaining is that no content should be copied from any other creator. One must have zero community strikes on the platform and all the content must be original.
    • AdSense: A channel creator must have an AdSense account for monetization. You can link as many channels as you want on one AdSense account.
    • Category: A creator must follow only one category of content on the channel. Like, for example, if you are a food blogger; you must have videos only related to food. Any other content will be eliminated from the channel.

According to the new terms, YouTube will now run advertisements on channels that are not a part of the YPP. The platform will not share any revenue with any of the new content creators. This is creating quite a stir with many new content creators as they fear advertisements will drive their subscribers away.
